To be fair, it hasn't been going on for THAT long, but still...exciting!
The search I am speaking of is for M.D.'s "perfect" winter coat.
This is going to sound really annoying to a lot of people, and I apologize, but I'm so excited about this I had to write an entire blog post about it. Yup, I'm that annoying. Get over it :)
When you live in MN, your winter coat is not just a jacket. You wear it EVERY DAY. You wear it to work, school, church, shopping, movies, etc, etc, etc. You wear it every day & every where. It is the one accessory you cannot shake for half of the year. When you're an adult (especially a woman) you normally accumulate multiple winter coats. Dressy ones for church/dates/when you wanna try hard to look nice at work for that one random day/etc. Grungy ones for when you just have to let the dogs out to shit or you need to bring the garbage bin to the end of the driveway. SUPER WARM ones for those days when your snot freezes on the inside of your nostril and you want to die. The list goes on and on.
When you're a momma on a budget, you try to allow for your child to have ONE winter coat. For me, that's hard. I refuse to buy multiple coats, but I also then am very particular about the KIND of coat I'm purchasing for M.D.
I've searched online...meh. They're all brightly colored (which is fine) and then have some random cartoon or dumb saying like "ROCKSTAR" or "TOUGH GUY" (not fine). As I said in my post yesterday, I get SO SICK of little boy clothes all being around the same themes and full of ridiculous sayings. Girl clothes are adorable because they're all about patterns and colors and different styles. Boy clothes are often a cop-out. Blue (so they match everything) with some kind of cartoon character that is "boyish". I'm over it.
I was also "over" searching for a winter coat.
1) Because I was sick of "TOUGH GUY" coats with cheap outer lining.
2) Because I dont' want to THINK about M.D. in a winter coat, with snow, and my snot freezing my nostrils shut. UGH.
BUT...the seas have parted.
I visited an online shopping site that I purposely avoid.
Baby Gap.
I avoid it, because it will be the death of me (or the death of my income).
I LOVE THEIR CLOTHES FOR BOYS.
I cannot say it enough.
They speak to me.
It's like they went inside my brain, saw what I was dreaming up for M.D. to wear, and made it in his size...at a ridiculous price.
This is why there was a winter coat divine intervention today.
I went on Baby Gap online (against my better judgement).
Then...the heavens parted.
The coat.
THE coat.
M.D.'s dream (okay...more like my dream for M.D).
BEHOLD.....

BEHOLD.....
Isn't it beautiful?
It is the combination of everything I wanted.
1) It's puffy and SUPER warm (for when his nostrils freeze shut)
2) It's a peacoat style (so it's preppy...yet functional)
3) It's nautical themed...HELLO....so adorable.
Speak of benefit #3 of purchasing this coat...a little bonus was ordered with it :)

Yup. That's EXACTLY what you think it is.
It's a nautical themed winter hat.
I'm in heaven.
Except not yet.
I have a rule...never pay full price for ANYTHING.
And of course these items were full price.
They're adorable and on-trend and MADE FOR ME.
There had to be downfall.
Then...I really arrived in heaven.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLELLLLLLLLUUUUUUUUUJJJJJJJJJJJJJJIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIAAAAAAAAAAAAA
(that is sound of winter shopping sale angels singing of my glorious find)
35% off?! You've got to be freaking kidding me.
Yes Please.
Done.
Sold.
Seeing as I could get 35% off all purchases, and the sale ended today, AND with 35% off my coat & hat didn't equal $50 to get the free shipping (yes, you read that correctly...I got both the winter coat & matching hat for under $50 from BABY GAP)...I decided to put a couple more things in my cart, purely to get the free shipping (which in no way makes sense, but it's how I justify a lot of my online purchases).
Sticking with the nautical theme:

AND just because they'll look so adorable on the beaches in Florida...I bought some organic gray striped shorts. I couldn't put a pic up because the "example" picture showed this pair that looks like old man boxer shorts...they didn't have a copy/pasteable pic of the adorable ones I got.
Prior to finalizing my purchase, I conferred with my baby fashion consultant Averi to ensure I was not dressing M.D. too much like a gayby. Though it's not high on my list of concerns, I do realize that a lot of what I dress him in would seem, on a grown man, to be a little more in the homosexual region of the spectrum. However, he's a baby and a well dressed baby can get away with fashion choices that would not bode so well for a heterosexual man.
EXAMPLE: (p.s. I think this outfit is beyond adorable! BUT if Steven wore it...ehhh...not so much)

Needless to say, all items passed the gayby test and are purchased and hopefully heading to my home soon (I need those shorts before we leave for vacation!)
The Baby Gap sale ends today so if you want to follow in my fashion footsteps today...check out their merch. Just don't copy my EXACT winter outfit if you live within my city limits...nobody likes a fashion copycat ;)
OH! And also please VOTE for me (if you like more, or even if you don't). Top Mommy Blogs (see the link at the top right section of this page). Thanks Much :)
