So here we are.
4 days out from our first family vacation.
By family I mean, of course, with M.D.
Steven and I were able to take loads is fun vacations pre-baby!
It was awesome!
And easy.
I didn't appreciate the "easy" before.
We are going to Florida.
We are staying on the beach.
We are going with members of his family.
Or "baby helpers" as I call them in my mind when I start to panic about all that traveling with baby entails.
I read a lot of blogs about traveling with baby.
Flying with baby.
Beach vacation with baby.
How not to lose your mind.
There are lots of tips.
Lists.
Bring this...don't bring that.
Do this...don't do that.
Half of what I read I thought was stupid.
Overkill.
Unnecessary.
Some pointers, I took to heart.
So here's some of my packing ideas for our trip. I'll let you know how they worked...or didn't...when we get back.
2) I hid M.D.'s favorite books today. Yes, it might sound mean, but I think it will be awesome. MD has 4-5 books that he is beyond obsessed with. We can read them 100 times and he still won't want to stop. I hid them (don't worry...he still has a million to read) so when we get on the plane he will be EXTRA excited to read them. It will be like the ultimate re-gift...to himself.
3) We are also packing his major essentials for the plane. Not just the "duh" stuff like diapers and wipes. We're bringing ALL of the favorites. His "Lovey", favorite binkies, favorite sippy cup, favorite snacks. Nothing "2nd rate". MD had a propensity to pick favorites for everything...all the favorites are coming.
4) We are flying non-stop. Enough said.
5) We are taking everything lightly. It might not sound like it, but I honestly realise this flight could go perfectly, or could be the world's biggest cluster-fuck. Either way...it will be okay :)
And finally, just because it's funny, here are some of the "other" tips I read about flying with a baby.
*Pack gift packs for those sitting around you (including ear plugs in case things go south)
-Ain't nobody got time for that!
*Sit separately from your spouse.
-Say what?!?!
*If your baby soils their diaper mid-flight, just change them in your seat.
-Yeah, cuz those "gift packs" are really going to make up for the smell and sight of a giant shit in the seat next to you.
I also realizes I haven't given any sort of update on MD's swimming lessons.
Which, sadly (and thankfully) are ending tomorrow. Update to come!
XOXO
Laurel
